Advanced settings

Set your channel's audience

Simplify your workflow by selecting a channel setting. This setting will affect existing and future videos. If you choose not to select a setting, you'll be required to identify each video on your channel that's made for kids. Settings for individual videos will override the channel settings.

You'll also be restricted from certain features on your channel. If you aren't sure whether your videos are made for kids, check out this Help Center article.

Google Ads account linking

You can link your YouTube channel to a Google Ads account to allow ads to run. These ads are based on interactions with your channel's videos and give access to insights. Learn more.

Automatic captions

You can choose to replace potentially inappropriate words with an open bracket, two underscores, and a closed bracket "[ __ ]" by default with automatic captions.

Advertisements

If you select this option, personalized ads based on viewer's interests or remarketing ads will be turned off. Turning off this setting may reduce your channel's revenue. In addition, earned action reports and remarketing lists will stop working for your channel.

Channel redirect

You can use a shortened version of your custom URL to redirect your audience to another channel. In the Redirect URL field, enter the URL of the website that your redirect URL should lead to.

Note: Redirect URLs are available to partners and advertisers who have this feature turned on by their partner manager or sales representative.

For example, if your URL is www.youtube.com/c/YouTubeCreators, you can have your shortened URL (www.youtube.com/YouTubeCreators) send viewers to the YouTube Nation channel by entering www.youtube.com/user/youtubenation or www.youtube.com/channel/UCUD4yDVyM54QpfqGJX4S7ng in the Redirect URL field.

Conditional redirects

You can redirect viewers who are visiting your channel to another channel based on their language, location, age, or gender.

Note: Conditional redirects are available to partners and advertisers who have this feature turned on by their partner manager or sales representative.

For each row, you can add a rule to set the conditional redirect. Rules are matched from top to bottom and the first rule that matches a user is applied. Here are the rules you can apply:

  • Language and location: Specified by full or partial locales ( en_us, en_, or _us ).
  • Ages: Specified by a comparison ( <, <=, >, >= ) and a number.
  • Gender: Specified with m or f .
  • Destination: Either a channel name or _block . Viewers that match the _block destination will be redirected to /Channels .

Channel visibility

You can temporarily make your channel hidden by selecting this option. Your videos, playlists, and channel details will no longer be visible to viewers.

As a channel owner, you can still see:

  • Your channel page
  • Your channel art and icon
  • Your videos and playlists
  • Your comments and analytics
  • Your community posts

You can make your channel visible again anytime and your content will be public to viewers.

Note: Channel visibility is available to partners and advertisers who have this feature turned on by their partner manager or sales representative.
